Yongar is the "showpiece" of one of the things that FOTE is about. It is a learning centre for the children from Dawson Park Primary & Forrestfield Senior High Schools, as it is they who have done a lot of the plantings. By the regeneration of bush along Crumpet Creek in this area, it will enable native fauna to use this as part of their corridor between the hills and the vanishing wetlands of Perth Airport. Indigenous plant species have been grown by Richard Joyce's school children in their nursery at Dawson Park, and also supplied by the Kalamunda Shire, grown by Men of the Trees.
The following is a pictorial history of how Yongar has been tranformed from a weed-infested wasteland to a natural bushland setting.
